District Representative

District Representative (DR) Requirements: is an incoming, outgoing or active past Group Representative (GR) who is elected by the other GR’s in the district either at the home district or at Assembly. Duties of DR: pg 149-150 service manual

  • Call and chair district meeting
  • Keep in touch with GR’s and visit groups especially new groups
  • When feasible attends AFG anniversary celebrations, District congratulatory cards presented
  • Help groups understand and apply the traditions
  • Prepare and update mailing list of GR’s for WSO as requested
  • Check with Current Mailing Address of each GR
  • Check that mail is getting to groups from World Service Operations (WSO)
  • Attend the Area World Service Committee and report on the District happenings
  • Notify AWSC and WSO of groups that have disbanded
  • Assist the Delegate in disseminating Conference information and reports
  • Signs applications for Supportive Al-Anon Members (SAMs) and returns them to the Alateen Co-ordinator
  • Term of office is 3 years

Alternate District Representative (ADR) Requirements: is an incoming, outgoing or active past GR and not a dual member Duties: pg 61, 140-141 service manual

  • May serve as a member of the District AIS
  • Term of office is 3 years
  • Replaces the DR if the DR leaves the position for any reason
  • Other duties agreed to by the District GR’s (pg 140)
